What is PAS 2030?

PAS 2030 is a British Standards Institute (BSI) specification that provides standards for installing energy efficiency measures (EEMS) in residential retrofit projects. All installers wanting to install EEM approved products under government-funded schemes must be PAS2030 certified.

PAS 2030 includes the following installation types:

• Building Fabric Measures (BFM) – insulation, glazing, and doors
• Building Services Mechanical (BSM) – boilers and heating systems
• Building Services Electrical (BSE) – lighting and lighting controls

The current PAS 2030 standard has been recently updated to meet the stricter energy efficiency requirements specified today. This helps to reduce energy usage, creating healthier homes and lowering heating costs.

The new version of PAS 2030 is linked to PAS 2035 ‘Retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency’. It promotes a whole house approach to energy efficiency and emphasises the importance of the qualifications and experience required for EEM installers.

How to achieve PAS 2030 accreditation

To achieve PAS 2030 accreditation, a company’s installations must meet the criteria of several quality management systems. These include:

• Equipment calibration and maintenance
• Employee competence records
• Inspection and verification of work
